PVC Questions

im trying to fit my bluckies with 1/2" pvc, but well it seems like no where sells the crosses. they sell other ones, sch40 or something, but theyre way too big to fit....anway the smaller ones do but how do you all fit your bluckies? isnt there a cross at the neck/shoulders?

i have the tan 1/2" .....i can find all the elbows and Ts but no crosses

and also, I can get a ride to Lowes sometime....is this the stuff i want? like to build with....
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=23971-1814-23971&lpage=none

cuz if it is thats a great price.

When I started making pvc frame figures, I looked everywhere for 1/2 inch pvc crosses. NO ONE carried them, even specialty plumbing stores. I was told that "someone has to make them" but I couldn't locate them to save my life. I then moved up to 3/4 inch and I can find them all over.

I checked my local Lowes and they didn't have the crosses in 1/2" only 3/4" and larger. I then checked out my local Home Depot and they had the 1/2" crosses in stock. I bought a few for the various projects that I am working on.

Odd. I have dozens of them. They're readily available at HD, and aren't that expensive. Beepem, do you have an HD around you? And I'd venture to say Lowes would also have them.
You can get the schedule 40 if you like. It's way sturdier. But I've always gone with either 1/2 inch or 1 inch regular depending on what I'm doing. The 1/2 in ch fits my threaded rod pieces perfectly.

I wonder if this is a regional problem. Both my Lowe's and Home Depot carry scads of them. I called the local Mom and Pop's around and have yet to find a single Hardware store that doesn't have at least a few of these lying around.

Wonder why we have a need for the .5" in Oklahoma that the rest of the country does not.

Short answer: local building codes dictate what can and cannot be used in construction. PVC is cheap, relatively weak (especially 1/2"), and is brittle at colder temperatures, and as a result cannot be used for much in many communities.

Local supply stores like Home Depot have a frustrating tendency to select stock based on the demands of the local construction industry, and not for the needs of hauntbuilders. Short-sighted fools!
