Here's my entry for this year's contest. I really haven't decided on how this guy should be dressed, so I just found an old shirt at a thrift store to throw on him for now. I spent so much time getting the electronics to work that I kinda ran out of time for the more aesthetic parts. Anyway, enjoy!

can we please see some more pictures
I'll get more pics of the internal linkage posted soon. The linkage is designed to make the torso lean forward as the prop rises, but the video doesn't really let you see the lunging motion. I'll get a video of the prop from the side so the movement will be more visible. And I gotta do something about that lousy shirt.

The wiper motor is running on 9VDC, high speed. The prop is triggered with a PIR attached to one of the 2-stage timers that I developed for the $20 Prop Contest earlier this year. It controls the motor and an ISD2560 audio board for the sound. I used the ISD board because I had one laying around, but I think one of the 50 sec USB audio boards (from Electronics123) would be a better choice - cheaper, too.

Poor guy is really upset about something:)

If this thing lunges forward as well as screams, he's going to scare people off your front walk and into the flower beds.

Gary, he sure came out great! It looks like this will be added to my to do list for next year since I now know how to do the electronics portion.

Very cool, Gary! Any chance you can do a breakdown / how to of the controller?
The controller is the 2-stage timer with PIR that I designed for the $20 contest. Jeff Wheat (the Simple Circuit Boards guy) sells the printed board for $7, I think. You just buy the parts - almost everything is available at All electronics - and solder them in. I can answer any questions you have about the board and how to assemble it. It's not on Jeff's web site, drop him an email or PM him - he's Atom058 on the forum.

The head is a foam skull with hair glued on it. I'll be taking more pics of the linkage tomorrow and I'll get some pics of his face.
Thanks to all for the kind words - this is the first time I've entered an actual prop in a contest, I usually do circuits and controllers and such.

Cool. I figured it was similar, but I wasn't sure if you'd done anything different with the circuit or not. Thanks.

Well worth the wait. I am excited to see more pictures and videos. He is a scary guy. I am NOT inviting him over for drinks. Really great prop, Otaku.

Thanks again, all. I need to mention that the inspiration for this prop was Denhaunt's amazing Grave Jumper.
