I'm trying to make a good design for an awning made of 1" PVC and black fabric. Most awnings in front of hotels as far as I know, are just a top, but mine would have side walls too. This is a picture I tried to draw of what I want it to look like:

Obviously, the awning is the gray part. And I wouldnt have the arch with pvc, that would just be draped fabric. I was hoping to build it so I could put pvc around the back of the thing above my door on the roof (that stops rain water from rushing right in front of your door) so that it can have a little extra stability.

Any ideas on design or tips? Thanks

I dont know about cheap....

Asuming that it needs to be stable and safe I would not use anything less than 1" pvc 4 legs with 2 peices of rebar inside each leg driven into the ground. the top would need 2 90's with leg connector looks like a Y at the legs nearest the house use a T and extend to roof line. thats just off my head sure i missed something. Cool idea though.

Maybe an easy and quick way to build it would be to use one of those e-z up tents and cover it in the black plastic. The arch way could be cut from the plastic in an arch pattern. Would be a little larger than you have drawn, but then it could be used throughout the year for different purposes.
Just my 1.5 cents. (probably wasn't a good enough idea to be worth 2 cents) haha

In case you need to know where to get one, I found one of those e-z up tents in Target this weekend for $30+. It was in the camping section.

Well, I already have the fabric, PVC and rebar, so from what I have left to buy it'll be cheap. It can also be connected to my railings on the stairs, which are a convenient protection from any accidents.

The easy up tents would be too short I think, i'm going for something much taller, since it has to be about 8' at the top of the staircase, but thanks for the idea.
