Does anyone know where to find a whole lot of pumpkins (real/fake) for cheap? Or, does anyone know a cheap, quick way to make replicas? I need about 40 for a project.

Paper Mache!!!!!! Ask Dr. Morbius... LOL

No Seriously.. I think DT has a How To cuz he made a Johnny Appleseed Scarecrow once....

Just cover a real pumpkin with papermache, cut it off, piece it together and cover again. Then use some sealent on them so they can go outside, Paint and seal again.
Wouldn' it be easier to just cover balloons? Shape the outside like pumpkins. That would eliminate the cut and patch steps. You could go as large or small as you want in round or oblong. And it would be really cheap.

Yeah, this method works really well. When I went to the NE Haunter's Gathering back in July, someone brought a Jack 'O Lantern with them that was made in this fashion. It looked totally awesome. He even made a stem for it out of blue insulation foam and glued it to the top of the head. The one at the gathering was quite large, I might add.
jw, wouldnt paper mache go up in flames..........? if there was a tea light inside or something, cuz i dont think youre gonna get 40 led circuits

i dont know how much time you have but i make carved pumpkins out of wood, cut carving ( reg or fancy type ) with jigsaw. then cut pumpkin shape after that.. make a base and set candle behind it. i may have a pic somewhere if i do i will put them/ it up in props.
Every year we need lots of pumpkins for our trail. We have had friends and their kids over to help carve serving cidar and snacks, we have carved them ourselves, and we basically agonize over this issue every year. We don't have the time especially right before to sit and carve, and it is just another expense. SOOO this year I got a friend to host a contest at his business, pre carved, dropped off the night before our trail, then we collect them all and the pumpkins are displayed throughout our trail with the winners getting a place of honor. Don't know what project you need 40 pumpkins for, but if they need to be carved hope this helps some.
That's what I'm wondering - can you share with us what the project is?
