So, I'm spending the week building a backpack/handheld pesticide sprayer for our new farmer character "Pestilin." He's going to be in the corn, and as people pass hes going to walk out of the corn and spray them with "pesticide." The pesticide being fog.

The design for the prop itself is going great, but I'm still trying to figure out how to hook up the fog machine. i'm thinking it the fog machine needs to be hooked up to a 20 ft or so hose running into the backpack then the hand unit where it will spray the fog out of. A remote control fog machine control will be attached to the hand unit. I have a 1000W or a 6000W fogger to work with. I'm thinking the 6000w will be way too powerful, but am worried the 1000w won't be strong enough. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can pull this off?

I would imagine that the basic setup would be the same regardless of which model you choose to use. So do your setup and then try the two foggers to see which works best for you and your conditions. I would avoid aiming the fog/pesticide at people's faces. I know it's just fog, but anything you aim at peoples faces presents a dangerous risk to both the guest and you/the haunter). Try the foggers out in the working conditions (the cornfield at night) and see how they do for the fog and the noise and heat issues.
It may be more of an issue of fan strength than that of the fog production capabilities.

hmmm great question, what if you took one of those small fog machines and attached some dryer hose and tryed to make the fog machine look like the nozzel of a firehose looking hose and just sprayed the fog from the fog machine?

I wouldn't expect it to be ready every time though, thats the real trouble the reheating time.

If your actor is carrying around the little fogger that might get tiring too.

Another thing is you could use compressed air to act as the pesticide if you are not in love with the idea of the visual fog or maybe combine the two? Compressed air is loud and scary.
