we have tried lots of dog food and he still farts its horrid.....realy bad anybody can reccomend a dog food that wont make him fart so much i know this thread sounds funny and all but its not those farts are rank! i need some help anybody have same probs with pets? and found a food that is mild enough ?

Our dog eats pedigree healthy maturity dry food. He's an old dog and his farts smell kinda like sour milk. :zombie: LOL

I don't think there is anything that will stop my dogs from farting. I know the Chocolate Lab lives for that. She won't stop. When she first started farting, she used to look behind her. Like she was blaming someone else. Can you image that?

Your going to have to stay away from the cheap stuff I'm affraid. Keep track of the formulation of the food. It's listed on the side of the bag. Brands like IAM's and Science Diet would be good to try. Or find a brand that as about the same mix. Look at the per centage of the material not just if it's there or not. You may also have to go to a nonstantard food like lamp and rice base. The better stuff may cost more but the dog will not need to eat as much. And will not produce as much waste, which is what most of the filler in the cheap food goes to. Give each new food at least a week, this will allow the dogs system to stabilize to the new food and then you should know if its going to work for you. Once you find a brand that works stay with it. Changing you brand all the time ( as in buying what ever is on sale at the time) is not good for the animal an can bring on problems also. You can't get by on junk food all the time and neither can you pet. If changing brands of food does not seem to help then you should check with a vet. The problem could also be the result of a parasite problem.

Working in a foundry for so many years I have a hard time smelling anything.
So I don't have to worry about my dog's gas.
However, my wife can, she has cussed out my dog on many an occasion.
Especially when the gas wakes her in the middle of the night.
Personally I think it is funny, but then as I said I can't smell them.
She swears I trained him to do it just to aggrivate her.
She suggested a cork in his butt, but I'm afraid he will either explode or build up so much gas that the cork will come flying out and break a window.
Needless to say I love my dog, atta boy.
