Allow me to present the Reaper Raven - my solution to the problem of never finding big crows at the Halloween stores. This regal creature stands about 16 inches tall.

Pipe cleaners (4) - $0.12
Masking tape, 1" wide (approx 6 ft) - $0.10
White flour (2 cups) - $0.40
Paper towel (3 sheets) - $0.06
Wooden beads (2) - $0.10
Craft foam, 12" X 18" sheet (1/3 sheet) - $0.33
Sealant, 8 oz bottle (1/10 bottle) - $0.60
White glue - $0.05
Acrylic paint (white, black, bronze, blue, gray, yellow) - $0.75
Total - $2.51
The video below shows how the bird was made. In a nutshell, it starts with a wire frame that's padded out with bubble wrap and newspaper. The rest is good old-fashioned papier mache.
