You can't have Vampires without adding their distant relatives, the Werewolves somewhere in the equation and so we have them in the second match.

Arguably, these two latter year lycanthropic excursions have done the most in furthering their particular genres in a way like few others before them ever did. This match up pits Dog Soldiers against Ginger Snaps.

Will the Fitzgerald sisters of Bailey Downs take out a pack of Wolfmen in the Highlands of Scotland, or will the outcasts go down under the greater numbers of these wild and hairy Scots? The moon is full and the beasts are out for blood. Get in and cast your votes and comments for which of these fine films you want to see go against a suave, pimpin' Vampire in the Quarter-Finals.

BLASPHEMY!!! HOW DARE YOU SPEAK THUS OF THE FITZGERALD SISTERS! Why, if I had my druthers and were the Mod of this particular forum, I'd ban you for life!!! Wait! I am THE MOD! Let me get to banning! :D

Just kidding, Don. :D ;)

I am however curious as to why you say that it was crap however. I haven't voted yet as I'm having a hard time trying to figure which I did like better, but in no way, shape or form can Ginger Snaps be considered a piece of crap.

I am totally with you on The Blair Witch Project and May. The first more so than the last, but that means very little. Neither film was worth watching a second time. I'm sorely tempted to do a HMDM one of these days where the voting centers around which is the crappiest film. I won't base it on my own preferences, but what is read about the 'Net and what other fans say.

However, Ginger Snaps doesn't fall into that category. I love both of these films about equally, and it pains me to vote for one over the other, but there is just something so likable and engaging about the roles played by Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins, even if for half the film their characters are morose and subscribe to the macabre. The only part I really have any beef with in the film (Okay, two parts) didn't come about until the sequel was released. These parts had to do with the characters of Jason McCarty and Pamela Fitzgerald, played with wacky abandon by Mimi Rogers. There are spoilers here people, so read no farther if you haven't seen the film and would one day like to.

What happened to those two characters? McCarty, seemed cured when Brigette stuck him with the syringe meant for her sister. Whereas in the sequel, B had to have almost daily injections of the Monkshood to keep the wolf at bay. So where did that leave McCarty? My guess is that eventually he became a wolf, continued on with the beasts canine rampage and the folks of Bailey Downs either disposed of him, or he's still ravaging the Canadian countryside. Seems plausible to me. And Pamela? I would be very interested to find out what happened with her, if she took the blame for the murders that Ginger committed, or did Brigitte strike out moments after Ginger's demise and the situation entire was blamed on the Beast of Bailey Downs? Curious questions all. They had a bestial corpse in the house it would be a simple matter to explain, especially if Pamela left Trina Sinclairs corpse buried, no one would be the wiser.

Okay, after all that typing, I am giving my vote to Ginger Snaps. Cooper and his team were great and Captain Ryan was a nastier villain than even the lycanthropes, but there's something more moving about two scared girls being affected by "The Curse" and so, I go with the Fitzes.

It's still early in the week, but never too late to prompt folks to get in and vote. Saturday is the cut-off date, so if you want to add your two cents, it would be prudent to do so while the opportunity exists.

*sigh* The Fitzgerald Sisters lose to the Scottish beasties and move on to face the Pimp Daddy vampire in the Semi-Finals. With that, we close this off and move onto the next bout.
