Here we are now at the last of our second preliminaries on this board. This time around, we have two very scarey Ghost films that audiences gladly paid good money to see at the box office. One is about a rather zany fellow who does what the voices in his head tell him to do in a haunted hotel, the other is about a girl who died in a well that for some reason wasn't able to get out of an archaic thing like a well, but was able to master such things as a VCR from below to record a sophisticated video tape, call folks on a telephone when I know Ma Bell doesn't run lines down bottomless pits, just to tell folks foolish enough to watch said tape, that she's going to snuff them in seven days.

It's Jack Torrance and The Overlook Hotel (Kubrick's version) vs. Samara Morgan and her watered down technology going toe-to-toe in this last bout. Get in here and vote for who will go onto the next level.

Kubricks film is in the list of many people who like Horror as being one of the most terrifying films of all time, and rightfully so. There was menace around every corner and those two little girls that got chopped up by Delbert Grady were somehow the most frightening things in The Overlook Hotel. The old dead lady in the bathtub, Jack Nicholson with an axe, how can you go wrong?

The Ring is a great film in its own right, atomospheric and scarey, the scene where Samara crawls out of the well and comes after Noah still gives me shivers, but The Shining is a tough act to follow and as such it gets my vote.

I must say people, that this is a real pitiful showing thus far. Only three votes? Well, you still have some time before I close the poll on this on tomorrow or maybe, since I feel generous right now, I might extend it. Get in and place your votes before it's too late.

Oops, I forgot to vote. Mine goes with The Shining for every single reason that Sinister pointed out. Both are great films, but only one here is considered a classic in my mind... The Shining.

I voted for The Shining.
Even though I'm the guy that prefers the tv movie version of that story.:p

I'm sick of American remakes of Japanese flicks. Enough already!

The preliminaries are over with The Shining taking the last coveted position. And that now takes us to the Quarter-Finals.
