The worms will stick together and stay stuck for awhile, but will also break apart. It is more of an issue with the worms in the jar. I find that you can do some creative sewing to keep the magnets apart.

Hmmm. Do the worms have a tacky surface? I wonder if a light dusting with corn starch (blow off the excess), or a very light coating of WD-40 would help prevent sticking? Of course, if it's due to the magnets finding each other, then it probably won't help.

Otaku, I am talking about the magnets in the worms finding each other and sticking together. You want a slightly sticky surface for the worms to travel on (like dry wood). Originally, I put down some lacquer on the wood so that the worms would slide better, but then they looked dead, just dragged along in lazy circles by some unknown force.
